How to get to Grand Bend

Map of the local Grand Bend area

The map on the left shows the local Grand Bend area with a sketch of how to find the Grand Bend Sport Parachuting Center from the "down-town".

Grand Bend is less than a 3-hour drive from anywhere in Southern Ontario or SE Michigan

The following are the recommended driving directions from various locations. Driving times are based on good traffic conditions. Please also refer to the maps which show the relevant roads.

From Toronto, take Hwy 401 west to the exit for Kitchener(Hwy8), then Hwys 7 and 8 west to Stratford. Take Hwy 7 for a few minutes, turn right on Perth Line 20, go through St. Paul's and Fullarton to Russeldale.  Map showing the route from Kitchener Cross the intersection and continue on Perth line 20; it turns into Hwy 83. Follow Hwy 83 past Exeter to Hwy 21. Turn left, then left again at the lights onto Hwy 81. About 3 minutes later, turn left at our sign. Driving time from Toronto is about 2.5 hours (but allow extra time on Friday due to slowdowns as a result of rush-hour and weekend traffic).
Note from the map that there is a "short-cut" which avoids Stratford by travelling through Tavistock. Turn left from Hwy 7&8 onto Wilmot-Easthope Rd 1, follow it (the road number changes) through Tavistock and continue until the intersection with Hwy 7,then turn left.

From London, take Richmond Street north (Hwy 4) past Lucan and turn left at County Rd 5. In a few minutes you'll come to Corbett and the intersection of Hwy 81. Turn right onto 81 and right again at our sign. Just follow the laneway and signs. Driving time from the Masonville area is about 45 minutes.  Map showing routes from London / St. Thomas If you are starting from the west or northwest parts of London, it may be faster to goto Lobo, then follow the Nairn Road (# 17), turn right onto Highway 81 and follow it past Parkhill for a few minutes- we're on the right. If you're starting from south London or St Thomas, take Hwy 402 westbound and exit on Hwy 81 North.

From Detroit follow I94 to Port Huron. From Flint take I69 to Port Huron. Cross the Bluewater Bridge into Sarnia, Ontario. Take Hwy 402 until the second exit for Highway 21; that's Hwy 21 North and the exit is 11 km after the first exit for Hwy 21 (which goes south). The first town is Forest and note that at the main lights in Forest you must turn right to stay on Hwy 21! Remain on Hwy 21 until the village of Grand Bend; turn right at the second traffic light onto Hwy 81. About 3 miles later, turn left at the skydiving sign and follow the laneway to the Grand Bend Sport Parachuting Center. Driving time from Flint or Detroit to Grand Bend is about two hours. Allow extra time for construction delays or "rush hour" slowdowns. In extreme cases (usually long weekends) some people have encountered delays of 1-1.5 hours waiting to cross the Bluewater Bridge! From Windsor, take 401 to Hwy 21 North to Thamesville. Turn right onto Hwy 2. Turn left onto Hwy 79 and follow 79 to Hwy 21 (having a map in the car helps!). Turn right onto Hwy 21 which leads to Grand Bend. Driving time on this route is less than 3 hours.
