First Jump This page was written with the assumption that the reader has seen those parts of our site that describe the type of training that we use here at Grand Bend. If you've surfed in from somewhere else you might be expecting lower prices than what you're about to see! Our methods are the most advanced available in the industry. We feel our procedures are the best and safest you'll find anywhere. If you were hoping to do your first jump for $225, sorry to disappoint you but that's not the kind of jump we do here. You'll need to find a place that does IAD or Static Line jumps (where the parachute opens immediately) to get that rate. If you were hoping to do a freefall on your first jump for $275 or so, after a few minutes of "training" then you'll have to do a "tandem" (basically a ride)- something which we also don't offer. If you want two instructors to help you do a genuine freefall skydive followed by a solo parachute descent where you're in charge then it's going to take a few hours to learn, it's going to take more aircraft and "people" time and that translates into a bit more money. You might want to ask yourself- when it comes to jumping from an airplane, is it really smart to do it the cheapest way possible? You've probably heard the phrase "you get what you pay for"! We offer these lower "early-bird" rates for people who are booking a first-jump course for April, May or June 2008:
Our "peak season" is in July and August. We will honour the Spring rates in peak season if full payment is received by the end of May. If you are interested in reserving a spot in peak season but are not prepared to pay the full amount by May 31, you can still pay a $100 deposit and pay the balance (of whatever the peak season rate is) on the date of your course. Peak season rates will be determined and announced in early June, once we know what our fuel and other costs will be. For comparison, the following table gives our first-jump package rates for individuals
and groups in peak season last summer July & August, 2007 .
Prices include training course, all equipment, instructors, aircraft ride and GST. Click on the "Gift Certificates" button on the left for more details about buying a gift certificate. |
OTHER PRICES :
Following are prices for other services and subsequent jumps. Prices are subject to change.
Video Package............................. $95
Includes the cameraflyer's jump, editing and a DVD or VHS tape with your choice of background music (you can bring a CD or choose from our selction). 6 minutes of video.
If you are planning to get a DVD it would be helpful if you can tell us which format of burned DVD your player accepts- either DVD-R or DVD+R. Many newer players will play both but some older ones will only play one and some older players will not play burned DVDs at all ! If you don't know and can't find out from the player's manual, just make a note of the player's make and model number and we should be able to look it up on the web. If you find when you get home that your player doesn't play your DVD, we can burn the other version and mail it to you later ($10 extra charge).
Please note that the videos are done by various skydivers who have acquired the skydiving skills and specialized equipment necessary to capture your first skydive. It takes a lot of skydiving skill to be able to exit an airplane and quickly get postioned in front of a beginner to record those precious moments on tape. They have spent hundreds of jumps and thousands of dollars acquiring the necessary skills. Their equipment is expensive, involving special cameras, editing equipment, helmets and jumpsuits . When you pay for your video, you're sometimes paying them directly. They usually are not set up to accept credit cards.
Subsequent P.F.F. Skydives:
| Cdn $ | |
|---|---|
| Level 1 (2nd Jump with 2 instructors) | $199 |
| Jumps 3,4,5,&6 (1 instructor) | $169 |
| OR Solo Package * (2nd through 10th skydives) | $999 |
Regular Jump Rates after the PFF Course: $15- $31 (depends on altitude);
Equipment Rental(after PFF) : $30 per jump
Most people gradually purchase items of their own equipment, usually
starting with an altimeter, a jumpsuit, goggles and/or a helmet. The rental
fee will be less if you use some of your own equipment and lower still
when you learn to pack the main parachute. The next big "jump", so to speak
in jump prices comes when you buy your own parachute equipment. We encourage
you to do so if you plan to keep jumping and we'll help you find an appropriate
set of gear. Most people start out buying used equipment (there's nothing
wrong with a "used" parachute!) and then eventually invest in new gear
after a year or two in the sport. Expect to pay at least $3000 for a complete
set of used equipment and as much as $7000 for all-new gear.
